  • Training courses are taught by professionals in the industry with current knowledge and years of experience. Courses allow for open discussion and ample interaction with instructors and fellow participants. Our curriculum combines lectures, classroom exercises, hands-on training to ensure the optimal learning experience. Upon satisfactory completion of a course, you will receive a certificate from Watson Security Services. Please note, however, that the courses are not for academic credit and are not part of a college degree program. These course are for the purpose of obtaining a successful career in the security industry. Civilians are allowed to attend the courses as well.

  • MD Handgun Qualification License (HQL) 4 Hour Course $125

    Unless otherwise exempt, as of October 1, 2013, a Maryland resident must possess a valid Handgun Qualification License before he/she may purchase, rent, or receive a handgun. Details on exemptions may be found below. You do not need a Handgun Qualification License to own a gun you already have. The Handgun Qualification License is only needed for purchasing, transferring, or renting a regulated firearm after October 1, 2013.

    MD Wear & Carry Permit Training (CCW) 16 Hour Course $325

    ​* Effective October 1, 2016 Fingerprints will no longer be required for renewal application submissions.  Fingerprints are still required for all initial/original Handgun Permit applications. (MD SB208 2016)

    ATTENTION: Before you may legally wear and carry a regulated firearm, you must possess and maintain on your person the MSP-issued Handgun Wear and Carry Permit. Submission of the application does not authorize you to wear, carry, or transport a handgun.

    Training must be successfully completed prior to submitting the application, unless you are exempt from training. 

    Who Should Apply?

    Wear and Carry Permits may be issued to any adult (18 years of age or over) who meets the following criteria:

    1. Has not been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor for which a sentence of imprisonment for more than one year has been imposed; or convicted of a criminal offense for which you could have been sentenced to more than 2 years’ incarceration.
    2. Has not been convicted of a crime involving the possession, use, or distribution of a controlled dangerous substance;
    3. Is not presently an alcoholic, addict, or habitual user of a controlled dangerous substance unless under legitimate medical direction;
    4. Based on an investigation, has not exhibited a propensity for violence or instability that may reasonably render the person’s possession of a handgun a danger to the person or others;
    5. Has a good and substantial reason to wear, carry, or transport a handgun, such as finding that the permit is necessary as a reasonable precaution against danger.
    6. As of October 1, 2013, has successfully completed the Maryland State Police approved firearms training course within 2 year prior to submitting the original or renewal application.

    Basic First Aid, CPR, AED – 4 Hour Course $80

    The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Please Note* You must attend ALL components for the class you are enrolled. If you leave early you will not pass the class or receive certifications.

    Oleoresin Capsicum Self Defense Spray Course (OC) - 4 Hour Course $65

    This course covers the defensive tactics and field decontamination techniques to be used when carrying a less than lethal force alternative such as OC Spray. Commonly called "Pepper Spray", Oleoresin Capsicum is a convenient aerosol spray that is used as a protection device. When used before hands-on defense, there is less risk of injuries to all parties.

    Monadnock Expandable Baton Course (MEB) – 4 Hour Course $65

    This course covers the defensive tactics, strikes, and jabs to be used when carrying a less than lethal force alternative such as an Expandable Baton.  Each course combines lecture, discussion, demonstration, hands-on performance of techniques and testing in a concise and practical manner.

    Tactical Handcuffing – 4 Hour Course $65

    This four (4) hour certification course is the most complete and innovative handcuffing course in the country.  The techniques presented are practical and effective.  Topics to be covered include the safest approach and positioning for handcuffing, handcuffing resistive subjects, removing handcuffs, and the use of various types of cuffs, among others. Upon successful completion of the testing criteria, students will be certified in the proper application of handcuffs and will receive a pocket card documenting their certification.
